Experiencing Heaven’s Power at Valley Fair

Each summer we have our kids do chores of all types. Their reward for being diligent and hardworking is a trip to our local amusement park Valley Fair every fall. Everyone looks forward to the dollar food items, trick or treating fun walk, shorter lines and less people all around. We go in the daytime to make sure we miss “Valley Scare,” the haunted Halloween amusement park experience that starts around 6:30pm.

We have a routine we follow each year. My husband and I usually go our separate ways halfway through the day so I can take our oldest on all of the rollercoasters while he watches our younger two kids explore all the kiddy rides. We facetime each other often to stay connected, and we meet at the car around 5:45 because the ghouls start to come out 30 minutes before “Valley Scare” opens.

A few years ago, my oldest daughter and I were in line for the Renegade (not the tik tok dance). We had been on it earlier that day, but she wanted to experience the thrill one more time. The wait time said 20 minutes. That would give us enough time to leave the park before the ghouls came out. However, the ride broke down and our hopes of getting out of the park on time were smashed. 

More people started to line up behind us. Thankfully my daughter became fascinated with the videos playing on the giant TVs. As I turned around, I saw a couple standing together. The guy was standing behind his girlfriend, both facing forward. However, his arms were wrapped around her touching a part of her body that was not what I wanted my daughter seeing. I was mortified with their PDA. 

Prayer of Blessing Instead of Cursing

My nonconfrontational side kicked in. I did not want to say anything to them, but I also wanted to protect my daughter. 

Immediately a prayer strategy came to mind. 

What part of heaven does this couple need right now? 

I know that prayer works, but I was unsure what it would look like in this situation. I began asking the Lord to BLESS them with PURITY and LOVE. 

I immediately heard this loud hissing noise in my ear. It was EXTREMELY unpleasant. The sound was close enough to my ear that someone would have to be standing right next to me making that noise. When I turned to see who was there, NOTHING!!

Nothing was there!

However, the couple had separated. WHAT?!?

I was shocked.

What Just Happened

The Lord had been opening my senses to the supernatural, but this was new. 

My understanding of what happened is, the enemy wasn’t happy with what I said, so he began hissing in my ear to intimidate me to stop praying. But I know

“the one who is in ME is greater than the one who is in the world.”

1 John 4:4

I had been taught that we can come against the enemy, but it is better to BLESS and ASK the Lord to release heaven in places where we see darkness. 

He already won the battle on the cross. He defeated sin and death and He TRUMPS ALL evil. It is our job to partner with him to bring heaven to earth.  He taught us to pray that way in the Lord’s prayer, 

“On Earth as it is in Heaven.”  

Matt 6:9-13

I had asked the Lord what they needed from heaven and I prayed it over them and I saw the immediate fruits of my prayer.

My way of praying for people immediately changed with this one encounter. Prayers of blessing have such an impact in the atmosphere and people around me. 

I have so much fun partnering with heaven! Amazing things happen when we pray and release HEAVEN ON EARTH.

You might say, “that is just a coincidence.” Well, you might be right. But, based on how I have seen my prayers change the atmosphere around me and how I have partnered with the Lord in prayer to bring Heaven to Earth, I choose to believe my prayer had power. The Lord blessed that couple with his purity and love.

Challenge

What part of your life needs heaven’s power to change it?

Do your kids need peace? Pray for them to experience the Lord’s peace and see what happens. I have seen my kids change almost instantly with this prayer.

Does a coworker need to feel God’s love? Pray for His love to envelope them and for them to encounter Jesus for the next 30 days. Wait and see what happens.

Does a friend need to feel the Joy of the Lord? Pray for the Lord’s Joy to encounter them and see what happens.

Be expectant for God to move. Your prayers change the atmosphere and the environment around you.
